Fair Trade Coffee

Ethical Coffee

In the year 2000, the youth group from East Chestnut Street Mennonite Church visited Koinonia Farm, near Americus, GA. During their stay, they visited Cafe Campesino, a fledgling operation beginning to gain traction as a fair trade coffee company. The youth group was looking for a meaningful and fun fundraising activity and decided that fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee from Cafe Campesino fit the bill. So they placed an order for some one-pound bags and, upon their return home, began selling coffee to church attenders and others in their community.

The project continues to this day. The folks at ECSMC continue to enjoy CC coffee every Sunday morning at church as well as during the week in their homes with the coffee they purchase from the youth at the church. The youth group now has nearly a 15-year history of spreading the good word and work of fair trade, organic, shade grown coffee.
